This year’s Shop Hop will run the week of October 3rd - 8th, with a list of 21 retail businesses participating. Each local business has contributed a gift certificate or such valued at a minimum of $20.00.
Each retailer will operate during their regular business hours that week. The Shop Hopper will visit to take advantage of their in-store specials and have their passport validated/signed. Upon completion of the passport, it can be left with the last retailer, and all will be collected with drawings for prizes the following week of October 10, 2022. There will be 21 winners.
Please get in touch with me with questions, comments, or concerns.

West Union Trunk or Treat
Hello everyone, fall is in the air, meaning that Trunk or Treat is approaching. This is our 9th year for this event, and it will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM at the courtyard square downtown West Union.
We are looking for businesses, organizations, or individuals who would love to participate by providing a trunk for the kids that afternoon. We ask that if you decide to do a trunk, you park on Elm St or Vine St. You can pull the trunk in the parking spot as usual so that the trunk faces the middle of the street, the street will be blocked off, and the cars and kids can safely go down the road. We do ask that you park every other spot to space things out. We will have volunteers to help you out that day, and we ask that you arrive after 1:00 PM and be set up and ready by 2:00 PM. Trunks will open at 3:00 PM.
Start stirring your cauldron; we can't wait to see what you will brew up for a theme.
If having a trunk is not your thing, please consider donating. All donations are greatly appreciated and go towards purchasing prizes for the kids' games and activities. We do not ask for a specific amount of money. You may donate what you feel is best. We also accept donations of prepackaged candy to be used for prizes. Items can be dropped off to Jessica Sadler at Mc]'s Embroidery.
This is a great event enjoyed by many; we have had up to 600 kids in attendance in the past. We will start at 2:00 PM with dancers performing and games in the courtyard. Trunks will open at 3:00 PM.
We are always looking for volunteers for this event. If you are interested or know of an individual or club that might be, please have them contact us.
(Rain date will be Sunday, October 30th, from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM)

Meet Our Board
Joe Griffith - Board Member & Superintendent of North Fayette Valley School District
In the spring of 2020, my family and I moved to West Union, where I had taken the job as Superintendent at North Fayette Valley School District. As educators, I believe it is important to be connected to the community we serve, with this in mind, I opted to join the West Union Chamber of Commerce.
We must continue to work to support businesses. This means recruiting and helping new businesses but more importantly, supporting our existing business.
Rural Iowa communities for the most part have seen a consistent population decline. This has a direct impact on schools. I hope to both support our existing community and entice new families to move into our school district by providing a vibrant economy within the NFV community.
The West Union Chamber's mission and goals align with my personal beliefs. Shop local and support your community.
